The Intergovernmental Institution for the Use of Micro-Algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM) is an intergovernmental observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), established under ECOSOC Resolution 2003/212 on March 5, 2003.

Through strategic partnerships and dedicated goodwill ambassadors, IIMSAM implements humanitarian aid distributions, educational programs, and practical nutrition outreach to support underprivileged communities worldwide.

Mission

IIMSAM's primary mission is to eradicate malnutrition globally through the promotion of Spirulina as a powerful tool against nutritional deficiencies. We work closely with the United Nations system to support the Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030.

Through initiatives like the "Gadara" program in Jordan and other regional efforts, we provide essential nutrition and support to families and refugees in need.

Vision

Our vision is a world free from malnutrition, where Spirulina’s nutritional power becomes a lifeline for those in need. Through our One Bottle One Life campaign, every bottle represents concrete hope.

We envision a future where every person has access to the nutrition they deserve, powered by global cooperation and sustainable innovation.

Our History

IIMSAM was established through international treaty arrangements dedicated to advancing the humanitarian and scientific use of Spirulina against malnutrition. Its founding treaty was formally registered under the United Nations Treaty Series (UNTS Nos. 37542–37543) pursuant to Article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations. Following its establishment, IIMSAM obtained Observer Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in March 2003 under Resolution E/212/2003, strengthening its role in promoting sustainable nutritional solutions on the international stage. Over the years, the organization expanded from nutrition advocacy into humanitarian outreach, public-health initiatives, educational programs, youth engagement, and international partnerships.
